The Gateway plan proposed for the riverfront in downtown Wilmington NC was approved on Tuesday by the Wilmington City Council. The council voted to rezone 10 acres on the Cape Fear River to mixed use. The Gateway plan consists of an 11 story building with 260 condominium units ranging in size from 1500 sq ft at $389,000 to 2900 sq ft at $1,000,000.The plan also includes 40 boat slips, and retail space for a restaurant, coffee shop and maybe a food mart. The developer indicated that it would be all first class including swimming pool, gym, theater, and green roof.

It was definitely a compromise by all as the original plan was taller and included more retail space that would have increased traffic.
