Wilmington NC Film Industry May Be Affected by Bailout Legislation
Wilmington NC known as “Hollywood East” may benefit from the recent bailout legislation. The Bill offers tax breaks for producers who film in the United States. With the bill, film producers may deduct all production costs up to $15 Million Dollars.
The film industry in Wilmington began back in 1983 when Dino De Laurentiis came to the area to film Firestarter. Since that time, Wilmington NC has hosted the production of more than 400 movies, miniseries and TV movies. In fact, more revenue has been generated from Wilmington NC productions than any other US city except Los Angeles and New York. Just to name a few One Tree Hill is filmed here, Sleeping With the Enemy, Divine Secrets of Ya Ya Sisterhood and Forest Gump.
